BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Merwestein is easy to reach by public transport. Take the train or bus to Nieuwegein, change to the sneltram (light rail) or the regional bus, and you will be dropped off right at our door.
Sneltram (light rail)
From Utrecht Centraal station, take the sneltram Utrecht -Nieuwegein/Zuid. Get off at the Nieuwegein – Merwestein stop and take the stairs down on the park side. At the bottom of these stairs, turn right straight away and walk under the viaduct. Take the first road on your right (alongside the sports and play field) and then keep going straight ahead until you see Merwestein on your right. The entrance to the complex is on the other side; you can walk around it to the left. From the Merwestein tram stop it is about a 5-minute walk to the sports and events complex.
Streekbus (regional bus)

BY CAR
Coming from the direction of Vianen and Maastricht
From the A2 (Maastricht – Utrecht), take the second exit after the Lekbrug (Nieuwegein/IJsselstein, exit 9). At the end of the slip road, turn right. For the rest of the way, see the directions coming from Amsterdam and The Hague.
Coming from the direction of Amsterdam and The Hague
At the Oudenrijn interchange, head towards Den Bosch (A2). From the A2 (Utrecht/Maastricht), take the Nieuwegein/IJsselstein turn-off, exit 9. Continue towards Nieuwegein and cross the A2 via the viaduct. At the traffic lights, carry straight on.
You will come out on the Wijkerslootweg. Keep going straight ahead as much as you can and you will reach the Zuidstedeweg. After passing the viaduct (over the Hollandse IJssel), turn left at the traffic lights (the Merwestein turn-off is signposted on the ANWB sign). You are now on the Binnenwal. Next, take the second street on your right (Meerwal). If you follow the road, you will automatically arrive at Merwestein's municipal car park. As you drive onto the car park, Merwestein is on your right.
Coming from the direction of Arnhem and Utrecht
From the A12 (Utrecht – Arnhem), take the Nieuwegein exit (exit 16) and follow the provincial road S15 (A.C. Verhoefweg). At the IJsselstein/Nieuwegein-Zuid fork, turn left towards Nieuwegein-Centrum. You are now on the Zuidstedeweg. After passing the viaduct over the Hollandse IJssel, turn left at the traffic lights onto the Binnenwal. Take the second street on your right (the Meerwal) and you will be at Merwestein's municipal car park.
Coming from Arnhem
On the A12, after the Bunnik exit, follow the Utrecht-Zuid ring road. At the Laagraven interchange, take the direction Houten/Nieuwegein-werkgelegenheidsgebied (business district), exit 18. At the end of this road, follow the signs for centrum/IJsselstein. Turn right at the traffic lights of the next junction, towards Merwestein. You are now on the Binnenwal. Finally, take the second street on your right (Meerwal) and you will arrive at Merwestein's municipal car park.
PARKING
The car park at sports and events complex Merwestein is managed by the Gemeente Nieuwegein (the local council). Please note that parking at Merwestein is paid parking from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 14:00. You can buy a day ticket at the parking machine. On weekdays after 14:00 and at the weekend, parking is free.
